Hi, I’m amie — Navy Veteran, Registered Nurse, mom of three (including teenagers, which should qualify for hazard pay), dog mom to Murphy (the furry money‑pit), DIY enthusiast, rock hounder, and someone who has accepted that adulthood is basically one long “figure it out as you go” scavenger hunt.
I created The Resourceful Trunk because my brain refuses to pick a lane. Every blogging expert says “pick a niche,” and I said “no.” Bold. Brave. Chaotic. But here we are.
A little about me
I served as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy, which taught me discipline, resilience, and how to function on three hours of sleep and a questionable amount of caffeine.
Now I’m a Registered Nurse in Michigan, which taught me… basically the same thing, plus how to chart while someone is asking where the bathroom is and another person is pressing the call light because they “just want to talk.”
I’m also a mom of three amazing kids who keep me humble, grounded, and constantly confused about why the dishwasher is full of cups when no one drinks water.
And then there’s Murphy — my dog, my son, my financial downfall. He drained my savings by 6 months old and continues to live like he’s the CEO of the house. He contributes nothing financially but acts like he owns the deed.
When I’m not working or parenting, I’m probably:
- digging through rocks like a kid convinced treasure exists
- wandering through forests pretending I’m in a nature documentary
- starting DIY projects I swear I’ll finish (eventually… probably… maybe)
- writing
- cooking
- learning something random because my brain said “ooh shiny”
What this blog is about
The Resourceful Trunk is basically a trunk full of everything I love:
- DIY & home projects
- Inspirational quotes
- Dog life (mostly Murphy’s crimes)
- Health & wellness
- Nurse stories
- Recipes
- Money & online business
- Honest product recommendations
It’s not a niche — it’s a lifestyle. A very resourceful one. A very tired one. A very sarcastic one.
Why “The Resourceful Trunk”?
Because I wanted a name that felt like a treasure chest — except instead of gold coins, you’ll find helpful tips, relatable stories, and the occasional chaotic DIY adventure that may or may not involve me questioning my life choices.
Thank you for being here
Whether you’re here for a recipe, a project, a quote, a story, or just a moment of “same, girl,” I’m grateful you stopped by.
Welcome to The Resourceful Trunk. Kick off your shoes, grab a snack, stay awhile.
Thank you
Amie
