I’m not really sure I know anyone who loves to clean. But some of us do find it enjoyable.

Before I left For the Navy I lived at home with my mom my dad my grandma and my brother. My grandma was a huge help for my mom and I was never forced to do chores.

After I got out of boot Camp I went to my first command and I got roommates in an apartment. We were all taking turns doing chores and that’s when I realized I did not know how to do much of it any of it. Well, not with any efficiency. I could definitely tell that my roommates had to do chores growing up and do their part.

Fast forward a couple of decades. I have learned ways to get things cleaned. Done in an efficient, easy, and cost-effective way.

Below you will find some of my most favorite products for cleaning. There’s really not that many. But the ones I use, I love. I don’t think any of them have a whole lot of chemicals in them. One of them will be baking soda. I have a whole list of baking soda uses. I’ll have to make a whole other post for that one.

1. Scrub Daddy Sponge

The only sponge that doesn’t judge me when I’m tired, overwhelmed, or pretending I didn’t see that mess yesterday. Murphy thinks it’s a toy. He is wrong.

2. Bar Keepers Friend

The magic powder that fixes my mistakes, my kids’ mistakes, Murphy’s mistakes, and probably emotional damage if I let it. If you’ve ever said “Oh no… what IS that?” this is your new best friend. Link: https://amzn.to/4bN3EYD

3. Dawn Powerwash

Spray → wipe → pretend you cleaned the whole house. Honestly, this product is doing more for me than sleep ever has. Link: https://amzn.to/4b59l3Z

4. Sprayway: World’s Best Glass Cleaner

Because sometimes you need your house to smell clean even if you’re too tired to actually clean it. Leaves no streaks. I use on windows, stainless appliances (fridge, oven door, dishwasher). Also doubles as aromatherapy for when Murphy does something financially devastating. Yes it smells that great. Link: https://amzn.to/3R8cTfb

5. Easy Off Fume Free Oven Cleaner

Spray, let sit overnight, wipe. Super helpful tip: you can easily take the door off. After breaking myself trying to reach over the door I found out you can do this.

6. Baking Soda

Uses are endless with this one. Again, I will have to make a post just for this gem. For cleaning I use it in my sink, tub, glass top stove (I really do wish I had gas stove, but I have propane. YouTube is going to help me convert a gas stove someday). Use it in laundry, …….. Link: https://amzn.to/4bwigvu

7. Zep mold stain and mildew stain remover

For when you have guest coming. A quick spray and mold and mildew disappear. I need to get a bathroom remodel due to mold on the ceiling. Popcorn ceiling at that. So hard to clean. I just grab an umbrella and spray the ceiling and the mold magically disappears. A true hero. Link: https://amzn.to/4bN4Nzp

8. Vinegar

I buy this by the gallon. During COVID the whole hospital would smell like vinegar, that was when I realized it was such a powerful disinfectant. Sure, it’s smelled like vinegar, but we were safe. I recently bought a house about a year and a half ago and I doused everything in vinegar. The house kind of had a weird smell to it. Then it smelled like vinegar. Then it smelled like clean. I also use vinegar in my laundry in between loads to refresh it. Because it’s a front loader and those stink. There are many uses. It’s a great deodorizer. Link: https://amzn.to/4vBWGwH

9. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

Erases scuffs, stains, and evidence of chaos. If only it worked on my stress levels.

10. Clorox Wipes

For when you need to clean something FAST because someone is coming over and you want them to think you have your life together. Spoiler: you do not. But these help.
